Escape Plan

If you should get caught in a home fire, an escape plan is essential for survival. Here are some suggestions to help you create a getaway route as well as a safety checklist.

Always have the following:

* Working smoke detectors and heat detectors
* Two unobstructed exits per room
* An agreed meeting place outside the home

Planning the Escape

Fires cause dizziness, disorientation and impaired vision. When it comes to your escape, practice makes perfect. Rehearse your plan at least twice a year with all family members present, including pets. Whenever possible, practice the fire drills at night. And don’t leave anything to chance.
